A Clash of Kings
The brass-seller desires to sell Daenerys Targaryen a large polished platter of brass. He boasts of its quality and asks thirty honors for it, which Daenerys considers too high. The merchant persists and negotiates a lower price with her. In the end Daenerys buys the metal for two honors even though she does not know what to do with it. Before leaving its shop, a Sorrowful Man tries to kill her by using a manticore. The attempt on her life fails thanks to the intervention of Arstan Whitebeard who uses his staff to flung the poisonous insect away. The manticore touches the brass-seller but does not sting him, the man takes fright, shriekes and soils himself. Daenerys gives him a silver for his trouble.[1]
