The Great Walrus is among the wildling leaders who accompany Tormund to the Wall in declaring a truce with the Night's Watch. One or more of his sons become hostages of the Night's Watch.[2]
The Great Walrus is present in the Shieldhall at Castle Black when Jon Snow, Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, announces the letter purportedly from Ramsay Bolton entitled 'Bastard'. The Great Walrus supports Jon when he announces his intention to ride south and face Ramsay, but the Lord Commander is then attacked in the mutiny at Castle Black.[3]
