The High Septon was High Septon of the Faith of the Seven during the reign of King Aegon I Targaryen. He was a maternal uncle of Ceryse Hightower.[1][2]

History

In 23 AC, Queen Visenya Targaryen proposed to betrothed her son, Prince Maegor, to her new born great niece, Princess Rhaena. The High Septon strongly objected the idea, however. Instead, he suggested his own niece, Lady Ceryse Hightower, the maiden daughter of Lord Manfred Hightower of Oldtown. King Aegon I Targaryen, wishing to strengthen ties with the ruling House of the biggest city of his realm, agreed to the High Septon's proposition. Maegor and Ceryse were wed in 25 AC in the Starry Sept in Oldtown,[3][1][2] with the ceremony performed by the High Septon himself.[3][4]
