Season 2 of House of the Dragon is the second season of the series.

Pre-production
House of the Dragon was officially renewed for a second season on the 26th August 2022, five days after the pilot of the series aired.[2]
On the 31 August 2022, Miguel Sapochnik announced he will not return as co-showrunner and director for season 2. He will remain an executive producer for the duration of the series, however. Ryan Condal will serve as the show's sole showrunner and continue to work closely with George R. R. Martin. Veteran Game of Thrones director, Alan Taylor, has been hired by HBO to be a director and executive producer for season 2.[3]
Executive producer Jocelyn Diaz will not return for season 2. Sara Hess and Vince Gerardis have been confirmed to continue on as executive producers, however.[4] Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, and Loni Peristere have also been added as executive producers.[5]
Production
Season 2 started filming on the April 11, 2023.[5] It is expected to air in the summer 2024.[6] The production was not affected by the WGA's strike as the final scripts were finished before the strike began, and notes from both HBO and George R. R. Martin were already addressed in earlier drafts.[7]
