Khalakka
Khalakka is a Dothraki title held by the heir to a khalasar.[1]
About
The sentence "Khalakka dothrae" in the Dothraki language can be translated in the Common Tongue as "The prince is riding".[2]
Unlike in the feudal Westeros, when a khal dies his heir does not automatically succeed him. He has to prove his strength to the khalasar in order to be accepted by them as their new leader.[3]
Known Khalakkas
- Drogo, heir to Khal Bharbo. He eventually succeeded his father as khal.[4]
- Fogo, heir to Khal Ogo. He becomes khal when his father is killed, but is himself slain shortly after.[5]
- Rhaego, heir to Khal Drogo, proclaimed to be the stallion who mounts the world, but stillborn following Mirri Maz Duur's bloodmagic ritual.[6]
- Rhogoro, heir to Khal Moro.[7]
Behind the Scenes
According to David J. Peterson, the female child of a khal would be called a khalakki.[8]
