Lord of Longtable
Lord of Longtable[1][2][3] is a title held by the head of House Merryweather, the ruler of Longtable in the Reach.[1]

History
During the Battle Beneath the Gods Eye in 43 AC, old Lord Merryweather fought for King Maegor I Targaryen against Prince Aegon the Uncrowned.[4] Old Lord Merryweather was killed the following year by the outlawed Warrior's Sons who remained loyal to Ser Joffrey Doggett.[4]
At the start of the Dance of the Dragons, Lord Merryweather was at court in King's Landing. He was imprisoned in the dungeons under the Red Keep along with other lords suspected to support Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen over her half-brother, King Aegon II Targaryen. When brought in front of the King, Lord Merryweather refused to support Aegon and was beheaded by the King's Justice.[5] Lady Merryweather, his widow, yielded Longtable to Lord Ormund Hightower.[6] Later during the First Battle of Tumbleton, levies from Longtable joined the blacks's host to fortify Tumbleton against the Hightowers.[6]
In 136 AC, Lord Marq Merryweather was chosen by lot in a Great Council to become a regent for King Aegon III Targaryen.[7] When Aegon came of age later that year, he dismissed Marq from his office.[8]
Lord Owen Merryweather replaced Lord Tywin Lannister as Hand of the King for King Aerys II Targaryen after the former resigned.[9] When tensions grew between Aerys and his heir, Prince Rhaegar Targaryen, it fell to Lord Owen and Grand Maester Pycelle to keep the peace between their supporters.[10] Aerys II later stripped the Merryweathers of their lands and exiled Lord Owen in 282 AC for his failures as Hand to prevent Robert's Rebellion.[11][12]

Lord Orton is present at the wedding of Tyrion Lannister and Sansa Stark.[13]
A Feast for Crows
Cersei Lannister names Lord Orton to her small council as justiciar and master of laws.[14] Cersei later raises him to be the new Hand of the King after she demotes Ser Harys Swyft to master of coin and lord treasurer.[15] After Cersei's imprisonment by the Faith of the Seven, Orton and his wife, Lady Taena of Myr, flee King's Landing and return to Longtable.[16]
