Oswyck was a septon and a member of the Faith of the Seven during the early reign of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen.[2]
Character
Oswyck was an old man when he passed in 54 AC.[3]
History
Oswyck had been the septon at Dragonstone for some time. He was the tutor of the royal children in the Faith of the Seven during the reign of Aenys I Targaryen and was a novice in the court of Queen Rhaenys Targaryen during the rule of Aegon the Conqueror. When Jaehaerys I Targaryen and Alysanne Targaryen fled to Dragonstone in 49 AC and asked to be wed, he personally performed the ceremony.[2]
Later in King Jaehaerys's reign, Oswyck, along with Septon Barth, assisted the king in the development of the Doctrine of Exceptionalism, which would later be added to the teachings of the Faith of the Seven.[4]
Septon Oswyck passed away in 54 AC. His was the first death that year which would become known as the Year of the Stranger, though his death was due to natural causes. At the king's request, his remains were interred on Dragonstone.[1]
