Spare Boot is one of the men that Bowen Marsh leaves behind to defend Castle Black.[2] He uses scorpions from atop the Wall during the battle beneath the Wall,[3] and a wildling's arrow strikes his wooden leg.[4] Spare Boot congratulates Jon Snow after he is chosen Lord Commander of the Night's Watch.[5]
