We all know that the Stark King gave away Bear Island to the Mormonts, but where were they before that? In particular, are they the blood of the First Men or the Andals? It seems to be Andal, because Jorah is called Jorah the Andal by the Dothraki, though this may not be fully correct. What status did they have before being given Bear Island?
- We don't have confirmation, but with all likelyhood they are from First Men origins and the "Jorah the Andal" is just a inexact nickname from the perspective of an Essossi. The name of the House suggests that too, as the First Name houses tend to have descriptive, plain names (Stark, Hightower, Banefort, Crakehall, Greenhand, Blackwood,...) instead of the typical Andal name (Tyrell, Arryn, Lannister, Brax, Marbrand,...)--The hairy bear (Send me a raven) 13:03, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
