Alan of Rosby is a ranger and a good archer[1] of the Night's Watch of Castle Black. He comes from Rosby in the Crownlands.

Recent Events
A Clash of Kings
Alan takes part in the Great Ranging beyond the Wall led by Lord Commander Jeor Mormont where he is a ranger under Thoren Smallwood's command.
A Storm of Swords
Alan survives the Battle of the Fist of the First Men and is among the survivors that make it to Craster's Keep. He is one of the brothers who turns against Lord Mormont in the mutiny at Craster's Keep.
A Feast for Crows
Alan remains at Craster's Keep after the betrayal, along with a few other former members of the Night's Watch.[2]
A Dance With Dragon
Alan and the other betrayers wander in the Haunted Forest, planning to head south over the Wall. However, the traitors are killed by Coldhands and his ravens. Summer, Bran Stark's direwolf, finds the bodies and eats parts of the meat. [3]
