Possible Candidates
- Stannis Baratheon: according to Melisandre, Stannis is Azor Ahai reborn. He is "reborn" in a ceremony on Dragonstone amidst smoke.[1][2][3]
- Rhaegar Targaryen: in his youth, Rhaegar thought he might be Azor Ahai. Maester Aemon thought the same.[4]
- Aegon Targaryen: Rhaegar later thought that his son would be the Prince that was Promised.[5][6][7]
- Daenerys Targaryen: After Sam tells Maester Aemon of the rumors about Daenerys and her dragons, Aemon thinks Daenerys is the prophesied leader.[7] She was born during a storm on Dragonstone, and woke the dragons from the eggs she had thought to be petrified.
- Victarion Greyjoy: while on a sea voyage, his arm is healed by Moqorro, a priest of R'hllor, says he sees a great future for Victarion in the service to R'hllor. Victarion's arm is stronger than it has ever been before, and visibly smokes while he moves.[8] He previously beat his wife to death, possible Nissa Nissa connection.
- Jon Snow: his wounds smoke while Bowen Marsh cries, providing the prophecised salt, and Ser Patrek's bloody, star laden heraldry is in the air above.[9] Melisandre looks into her fires for Azor Ahai and sees only Snow.[10] Jon has a dream he is fighting Others with a red sword burning in his hand.
