Lady Daenaera Velaryon was queen consort and wife of King Aegon III Targaryen and a member of House Velaryon.[1]

History

Daenaera was the second wife of King Aegon III Targaryen, after his first marriage to Princess Jaehaera Targaryen ended childless. Daenaera had five children with her husband; Daeron, Baelor, Daena, Rhaena and Elaena. It is unknown how she is related to the members of House Velaryon of that time.

Legacy

Daenaera's two sons would reign after her husbands death: Daeron would be crowned King Daeron I Targaryen, and would become known as the Young Dragon, famous for Conquering Dorne, even though his conquest lasted only for four years. When Daeron died childless, his younger brother Baelor was crowned Baelor I Targaryen in 161 AC. Baelor, who had been married to Daenaera's eldest daughter Daena, had his marriage undone and locked his three sisters in what would become known as the Maidenvault. Baelor was known for being pious, and fasted often, and long. One of such fasts eventually killed him.

Daenaera's daughter Daena, during her captivity in the Maidenvault, had an affair with her cousin Prince Aegon, which caused her to get pregnant. She gave birth to a bastard son, named Daemon, in the end of Baelor's reign. Years later, King Aegon IV acknowledged Daemon, and gave him the Targaryen sword Blackfyre. Legitimized in 184 AC, Daemon choose the name Daemon Blackfyre for himself, starting House Blackfyre, which would cause several wars that threathened the Targaryen Dynasty.

Daenaera's second daughter, Rhaena, joined the Faith and became a septa. The youngest girl, Elaena, was married trice in her life, and had an affair with her cousin, Alyn Velaryon, to whom she birthed two bastards, Jon and Jeyne Waters. Elaena had five other children from her three marriages.
