Daenerys Targaryen was the daughter of Aegon IV and Naerys Targaryen. According to semi-canon sources, she was born well after her older brother, Daeron II, to the point that Daeron had already married and had a son, Baelor Breakspear. Her marriage to the Prince of Dorne Maron Martell was brokered by Baelor the Blessed. Baelor the Blessed also officiated the ceremony, which was part of the peace that brought Dorne into the kingdom after it was conquered by Daeron I.[1] She supposedly loved Daemon Blackfyre and it was said the main reason Daemon rose in rebellion against the Iron Throne was when Daenerys was denied to him.[2]

After the end of the first Blackfyre Rebellion Maron Martell built his new bride the water gardens a place of beauty made of colored marble with pools and trees. Her children played in the pools along with the children of other highborn lords, and one day when the sun was hot, she took pity on the children of the servants and guards and allowed them to play in the pools with the highborn children. It started a tradition that is still used in Dorne to this day.
