Edric Storm is the bastard son of King Robert Baratheon and Delena Florent.

Appearance

Edric is a sturdily attractive youth, with coal-black hair and deep blue eyes. He is said to be "the very image" of his father, although he also has the large ears common to House Florent.[1][2]

History

Robert and Delena conceived Edric on the wedding night of Stannis Baratheon and Selyse Florent, in the couple's own wedding bed. Stannis saw this as a blight upon his honor, so he sent him to Storm's End, to his other uncle, Lord Renly Baratheon.[3] As Delena was nobly born, Edric Storm was acknowledged by his father.[4][5] He was reared in relative comfort at Storm's End under the guardianship of Ser Cortnay Penrose, Lord Renly's castellan, who was very fond of him.[6]

Edric was sent a gift from his father every year on his nameday, a pony one year, a sable cloak the next, once even a miniature warhammer similar to the one his father used. Edric would then write to King's Landing full of thanks to his father for the gifts, at which which point Robert would laugh and ask Varys what was sent. It turns out that Varys was responsible for the gifts and sent the lad a present every year in his fathers name.

Recent Events

A Clash of Kings

When Stannis besieged Storm's End, Cortnay Penrose resisted in fear of what Stannis would do to Edric. Ultimately Stannis took the castle and shipped Edric to Dragonstone, where he spent time with Stannis's daughter Shireen.[7]

A Storm of Swords

Melisandre pleaded with Stannis to sacrifice Edric, as she believed that a sacrifice of royal blood would wake dragons from stone to help Stannis.[8] Fearing that Stannis would eventually cave to Melisandre's demands, Davos Seaworth had Edric secretly shipped away to the Free Cities aboard the Mad Prendos.[9] Davos appionted Ser Andrew Estermont, cousin of Edric, to act as his guardian and Ser Gerald Gower, Ser Triston of Tally Hill, Lewys the Fishwife and Omer Blackberry to be his guards and protectors.[10]

A Dance with Dragons

Edric is hiding in the Free City of Lys together with his guardian and protectors.[11]
