Genna Lannister is the daughter of Tytos Lannister. She married Emmon Frey and has four children with him. Genna is the aunt of POV Characters Cersei and Jaime.
History
Genna recalls to Jaime Lannister that her father accepted Walder Frey's proposal that she married Walders second son Emmon Frey out of weakness[2]. At the marriage her young brother Tywin spoke out against the marriage because he did not think it a good match. Genna tells Jaime she loved him for doing this. Although Genna was not satisfied with the match she had four sons with her husband. She domineers her husband and frequently snaps at him[3].
After the Tullys had been attainted the crown granted Genna and her husband possession of the Tully lands. As Brynden Tully still held Riverrun their castle had to be wrestle from him. During the siege Genna advised Jaime to execute Edmure Tully, the attainted lord of Riverrun, because she considered him and his unborn child a possible danger. She would have preferred Darry dispite being less rich over Riverrun because House Darry is extinct while House Tully is not[4].
Appearance and character
In her youth Genna was shapely, later she is described as fat, square with a broad and smooth face[5]. Genna bosses around her husband whom she considers inept, an assessment that Jaime shares[6]. Her personality is such that she is able to claim a place in Jaime's war council without opposition, which is not very common for a woman [7]. Once she even told her brother that Tyrion had inherited his competencies from him despite her knowledge that Tywin would not appreciate this.
