Stannis Baratheon tells Davos Seaworth that Ser Gilbert is one of the few men who remained loyal to him after his loss at the Blackwater and still holds Storm's End for him, commanding a garrison of two hundred men.[1]
A Feast for Crows
Gilbert continues to hold Storm's End as its castellan for Stannis, with Lord Elwood Meadows as his second in command and Maester Jurene as his counselor and healer.[2] While Stannis is in the north, an army from the Reach under Lord Mace Tyrell and Lord Mathis Rowan besiege Storm's End.[citation needed]
