A Dance with Dragons
In the absence of Cotter Pyke, Ser Glendon has been named as the temporary commander of Eastwatch-by-the-Sea. Lord Commander Jon Snow was informed of the appointment in a message from commander Pyke and Harmune. Snow was troubled by the news. Glendon was a seasoned man, a strong man, and a seemingly sensible choice. But he was also a friend of Alliser Thorne and a former crony of Janos Slynt. Jon could still remember Glendon dragging him from bed and kicking him in the ribs. He thinks to himself that Ser Glendon was "not the man I would have chosen".[2]
