Lord Godric Borrell is the Lord of Sweetsister and head of House Borrell.[1]

History

During the War of the Usurper, Eddard Stark washed up on Sweetsister while en route to North and raise his banners. Godric's father could easily have turned Ned over to Aerys Targaryen for a reward, but instead freed him, saying, "If you lose, you were never here."

The Sisters have always had amiable relations with smugglers. When Stannis Baratheon was Master of Ships, he sent a fleet to Sisterton without Borrell's leave and made him hang a dozen good friends. Baratheon threatened to hang Borrell as well should some ship sink because the night lamp had gone black.[2]

Recent Events

A Dance with Dragons

A group of Freys led by Rhaegar Frey arrives at Sweetsister en route to White Harbor, bringing Lord Wyman Manderly the bones of Manderly's son. Disdainful of Manderly, Borrell states he would have hanged the Freys if they had extended him such a "courtesy".

Borrell is having supper when Davos Seaworth is brought before him. Godric updates Davos on the current events, including the death of Tywin Lannister. It becomes evident that Godric harbors doubts about Cersei Lannister's ability to rule, as he notes that Davos would be in chains if her uncle Kevan Lannister were in power. He tells Davos the story of Ned Stark's visit, including his father's parting words: "If you lose, you were never here." Davos replies, "No more then I was."[2] Godric then allows Davos to leave for White Harbor to attempt to curry favor with Manderly.[3]

Appearance

Lord Godric is a big fleshy ugly man with massive shoulders. Coarse white hair grows from his cheeks and chin. He is bald on the top of his scalp, with a lumpy red veined nose and webbing between his three middle fingers.
