The Great Spring Sickness[1] was an epidemic that hit the Seven Kingdoms in 209. However, it spared [[Dorne] and the Vale of Arryn.

It spared Dorne and the Vale of Arryn, who had closed their access roads and their ports. Many people of any condition were killed, including King Daeron II. The most affected cities were Lannisport, Oldtown and King's Landing, who lost nearly half their populations. Lord Brynden Rivers, the Hand of the King to Aerys I Targaryen, disposed of the dead of King's Landing in the Dragonpit, burning them with the aid of wildfire.
