The Great Spring Sickness[1] was an plague epidemic that hit the Seven Kingdoms in 209 AL. However, it spared Dorne and the Vale of Arryn.

The Sickness

The Great Spring Sickness spared Dorne and the Vale of Arryn, who had closed their access roads and their ports to all travelers. Many people of any status in life were killed, including King Daeron II, the Princes Valarr and Matarys and the High Septon in King's Landing alone. The most affected cities were Lannisport, Oldtown and King's Landing, who lost nearly half their populations. Lord Brynden Rivers, the Hand of the King to Aerys I Targaryen, disposed of the dead of King's Landing in the Dragonpit, burning them with the aid of wildfire.[2]

Others who died of the Sickness were the last husband of Lady Rohanne Webber, Lord Damon Lannister and the heir and eldest son of Lord Bracken.
