Ser Harbert is the former castellan of Storm's End, already old in 278 AC. He is the great-uncle of Robert, Stannis and Renly Baratheon.[1] His family name is not stated so it is not clear if Ser Harbert is a Baratheon himself.[2] Since Cortnay Penrose was castellan when Renly was made Master of Laws, it is clear that Harbert was dead before Renly achieved manhood.
History
During his time as castellan, Ser Harbert counsels Maester Cressen to kill Patchface because he thinks that the fool suffers. Cressen disagrees and wins the argument.[3] Stannis recalls that he found a wounded hawk and nursed it back to health. He tried to teach the bird to hunt but had no success. Ser Harbert persuaded Stannis to use a different bird.[1]
