High King of Dorne was a title claimed by some First Men rulers in Dorne prior to the Andal invasion.

History

The lords of House Yronwood styled themselves High Kings of Dorne when they ruled northern Dorne, from the domains of House Wyl in the Red Mountains to the headwaters of the Greenblood.

The title was also claimed by a ruler seated on a great wooden motte-and-bailey castle on the south bank of the Greenblood near Lemonwood. This king was chosen by election from a dozen noble houses settled along the river or its eastern shores. These included Houses Briar, Brook, Brownhill, Holt, Lake, Shell, and Wade. This powerful river realm ended when a disputed election led to warfare. After a generation of war, three houses were extinct and the realm had splintered into a dozen petty kingdoms.[1]
