Horn of Winter
The Horn of Winter, also known as the Horn of Joramun, is a legendary horn with magical properties. It was supposedly blown by Joramun, a wildling King-Beyond-the-Wall. When he blew it, he woke the giants from the earth.[1] When blown it could bring down the Wall.[2]

Recent Events
A Storm of Swords
Mance Rayder initially claimed to have opened fifty graves in search of the Horn but failed to find it. However, when Jon Snow returned to the wildling camp, this time as a brother of the Night's Watch, Mance presented what he said was the Horn, telling Jon of his plans to blow the horn should the wildlings fail to take the Wall.[3]
However the truly Horn, unbeknownst to any wildling or any men in the Night's Watch (including the one whom discovered it), has been handed over to Samwell Tarly, which was inadvertently unburied, alongside several black garments and obsidian hilts, by Jon Snow while the Night's Watch was encamping the Fist of the First Men during the events occurring at A Clash of Kings. Both Jon and Samwell tried unsuccessfully to blow the Horn, but it made no sound, either because it was damaged or because it needed some kind of ritual to work.[4]
A Dance with Dragons
The Horn is destroyed and burned by Melisandre when she has Mance Rayder (actually a glamoured Rattleshirt) put to death.
Later Tormund Giantsbane claims to Jon Snow that the horn that Mance Rayder found and Melisandre burned was not in fact the true Horn, which Mance had never actually found.[5]
The supposedly true horn remains with Samwell Tarly en route to Oldtown
