House Brune of the Dyre Den is a noble house from the Dyre Den, which is located in Crackclaw Point in the crownlands.[1] Neither its arms nor its motto have appeared in the books.

The Brunes of Brownhollow are presumably a cadet branch of this house, as they are only landed knights.

History

The Brothers Brune were legendary champions that brought peace to Crackclaw Point.[citation needed]

Bernarr Brune was squire to Lord Alyn Stokeworth, the Hand of the King to King Aegon I and Aenys I Targaryen. When Lord Alyn was slain by the rebel Harren the Red, Bernarr avenged him and cut down the outlaw. He was rewarded with knighthood. He was later one of the champions in Maegor I Targaryen's trial of seven.[2]

During the Dance of the Dragons, the Brunes declared for Rhaenyra Targaryen. Brune forces joined Lord Walys Mooton to liberate Rook's Rest from the control of Aegon II Targaryen's greens.[3]

Members of House Brune were with Prince Rhaegar Targaryen at the Battle of the Trident during Robert's Rebellion.[citation needed]
