- Lord Qarlton was the second last Hand of the King to Aerys II.
- Lord Chelsted is remembered as the 'mace-and-dagger' hand by Ser Jaime Lannister.
- Qarlton attempted to convince Aerys not to burn King's Landing down, but when Aerys refused his attempts, Lord Qarlton resigned the handship. Aerys had him dipped in wildfire and burned alive. He was replaced by Lord Rossart as Hand of the King.
