History
Jonquil Darke, known as the Scarlet Shadow, was the first known Darke. Being the bastard daughter of Lord Darklyn, it is possible she was the founder of the house. She became a sworn shield of Queen Alysanne Targaryen and dueled a wildling woman at the court of Lord Theomore Manderly when Alysanne visited White Harbor.[1]
The Darkes sided with the blacks in the Dance of the Dragons. Ser Harrold Darke was killed at Dragonstone in defense of Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen.[2]
