House Sunderland of the Three Sisters rules the Three Sisters, three islands located in the Bite. They reside in Sisterton,[1] although their castle has not been mentioned. The Sunderlands are sworn to House Arryn of the Eyrie.

House Sunderland blazons their arms with three women's heads, white with black hair, on barry wavy blue and green.[2][3] Their motto does not appear in the books.

History

While Aegon the Conqueror was invading the Seven Kingdoms, the Three Sisters rebelled against King Ronnel Arryn and named as their queen Marla Sunderland.[4] After the Conquest, however, the Sistermen deposed Marla and her brother submitted to Aegon I.[5]

During the Dance of the Dragons, Prince Jacaerys Velaryon gained Houses Borrell and Sunderland for the blacks during his visit to Sisterton.[1]

Lord Sunderland led the Sistermen fighting for House Blackfyre during the First Blackfyre Rebellion in 195-196 AC. He attended the Whitewalls tourney in 212 AC that was to launch the Second Blackfyre Rebellion.[2]

Lord Triston Sunderland is recalled by Lord Godric Borrell as having bemoaned the high cost of purchasing destriers for his seven sons, all of whom are determined to become knights.[6]
