Jeyne Heddle, called Long Jeyne for her height,[2] is a descendant of House Heddle. She has a younger sister, Willow.[3] According to the Elder Brother, the sisters are nieces of Masha Heddle, the innkeep of the inn at the crossroads. According to a semi-canon source, Masha is their great-aunt.[2]

Jeyne is tall and thin, plain, with brown hair and brown eyes. She is hardened and suspicious.[4]
