Jeyne Poole is the daughter of the steward of Winterfell, Vayon Poole. She is the best friend of Sansa Stark and is described as very pretty.[1]

Recent Events

A Game of Thrones

During a needlework session with Princess Myrcella Baratheon, she claims that Sansa has caught the eye of Prince Joffrey Baratheon, which leads to a discussion that upsets Arya Stark.[2] She accompanied the Starks to King's Landing. During the Tourney of the Hand, Jeyne declared that she would marry Lord Beric Dondarrion when she first saw him. Some time later, she watched a young knight die and had to be escorted away by Septa Mordane to regain her composure.[3]She survived the massacre of the Northmen by House Lannister and was confined by Ser Boros Blount of the Kingsguard in a room with Sansa Stark. She was parted from Sansa and taken away and given custody over to Littlefinger and was not heard from again.

A Storm of Swords

When Jaime Lannister says farewell to Steelshanks Walton there is a northern girl present who claims to be Arya Stark, although Jaime does not recognize her. Later Jaime tells Brienne that the girl is not Arya Stark (in case Brienne had ideas of rescuing the girl) but some northern girl his father found. They pinned a wolf brooch on her and sent her North to wed Bolton's bastard Ramsay Bolton in order to cement their claim to Winterfell. Brienne is shocked but Jaime explains that with all Arya Stark's kin believed dead (besides her sister Sansa and half brother on the wall) no one will be able to dispute the girl's identity. According to Jaime the Boltons are aware the girl is a fraud.

A Feast for Crows

Queen Cersei claims that Lord Petyr Baelish dressed up a "steward's whelp" and claimed she was Arya Stark sent to marry Ramsay Bolton.[4]

A Dance with Dragons

Jeyne is forced to marry Ramsay and pleads with Theon Greyjoy several times before the wedding for him to help her and take her away. When stripped by Greyjoy for the bedding, numerous scars covered Jeynes back suggesting she had been whipped. When Ramsay asks her if she knows how to please a man, she replies fearfully she has had training (suggesting she has possibly spent her time from her last appearance in A Game of Thrones to her reappearance in A Storm of Swords in a brothel).

She spends all her time confined to the tower and is deeply traumatized by the things Ramsay does to her. A rescue attempt is launched by Mance Rayder (who was sent south to rescue "Arya Stark"). Mance brought six spearwives with him who were disguised as maids. They enlisted/forced the help of Theon Greyjoy. Though Jeyne and Theon managed to escape Winterfell, Mance and the spearwives did not and it is reported that all six women were flayed and Mance was put in a cage in the elements with their skins to act as cloaks to keep him warm from the cold.

Jeyne and Theon are discovered later by Mors Umber and brought to the main camp of Stannis Baratheon.
