Lady Catelyn asks the bannermen of House Tully present at the inn to help her arrest Tyrion for the attempt on her son Bran's life. The men oblige and draw their weapons. Jyck immediately reaches for his sword. However, Tyrion realizes that his party stands no chance against the superior numbers. He considers Jyck a fair swordsman but his other escort Morrec is no soldier and Yoren, as member of the Night's Watch, is not going to get involved. Thus Tyrion thinks that any attempt at resistance can only lead to them being slaughtered and he immediately wrenches down Jyck's sword arm. Jyck's sword as well as the daggers of Jyck, Tyrion and Morrec are taken away by the swellsword Bronn, who heeds Lady Stark's call to help her. History

In his service for Tyrion Lannister, one of Jyck's regular tasks was to hire prostitutes for Tyrion. He sometimes failed to warn the women that Tyrion is a dwarf, leading to some unpleasant situations for Tyrion when the prostitutes first saw him.[3]

Recent Events

A Game of Thrones

Jyck arrives with the royal party in Winterfell and later, together with Morrec, serves as escort to Tyrion Lannister when Tyrion travels to the Wall.[1]

Jyck is still with Tyrion when they come across Lady Catelyn Stark at the crossroads inn. Outnumbered, Tyrion's party is taken captive by rivermen.[2]

Lady Stark wants to bring Tyrion to the Eyrie and they reach the Mountains of the Moon. As a captive, Jyck is sullen and miserable. When the party is attacked by Vale mountain clans, Jyck is cut down from behind while he is slicing at a man in front of him. After the skirmish, Bronn pulls the boots off Jyck's feet, as they are much finer than his own, and Tyrion takes Jyck's horse. Reflecting the results of the engagement and Jyck's bareback charge, Tyrion thinks that he was a fool to the end.[2]

Tyrion later meets his father, Lord Tywin Lannister, who comments on how Tyrion's capture led to the fighting in the riverlands, stating that no man sheds Lannister blood with impunity. Tyrion points out that no Lannister blood has actually been lost and mentions the death of Jyck and Morrec in this context.[4]
