Karhold is the seat of House Karstark in the North. It is a strong castle.[1] It lies in the eastern half of the North, south of the Bay of Seals, further to the east lies the Grey Cliffs.[2]
History
The castle was build by Karlon Stark, the founder of the Karstarks's and was named Karl's Hold after him. The name eventually developed into Karhold.[3]
A Storm of Swords
Maester Aemon sent a raven to Karhold in a plea for help to defend Castle Black from wildlings.[4]
