Medrick Manderly was the Lord of White Harbor and the head of House Manderly.[1] The eldest son and heir of Lord Desmond Manderly,[2] Medrick served as Lord of White Harbor for only four days before passing away from the Winter Fever.[1]

Character

Medrick was a fearsome man[2] said to be the finest knight of the north.[1] However, he was also courtly and well spoken.[3]

History

Prince Jacaerys Velaryon visited White Harbor and Winterfell and enlisted the north for the blacks during the Dance of the Dragons. Lord Desmond Manderly sent his sons, Ser Medrick and Ser Torrhen Manderly, to aid Rhaenyra Targaryen in King's Landing. After Rhaenyra lost two dragons to the Two Betrayers, the Manderly brothers argued that Addam Velaryon and Nettles were also untrustworthy.[4]

During the riots at King's Landing, Medrick led a hundred White Harbor men and restored order in the area between Aegon's High Hill and the Iron Gate. Medrick was one of The Seven Who Rode in an unsuccessful effort to rescue Prince Joffrey Velaryon.[5]

The Manderly brothers accompanied Rhaenyra when she fled the capital after the Storming of the Dragonpit. Medrick asked Rhaenyra to travel to White Harbor, but she insisted on sailing instead from Duskendale to Dragonstone on the Violande without the Manderlys.[5]

During the Hour of the Wolf after the war, Medrick agreed to transport those men taking the black from King's Landing to White Harbor on his galley, North Star. Orwyle had escaped imprisonment, however, so Medrick sentenced a guard who had aided the vanished Grand Maester to join the Night's Watch in his place.[3]

Lord Desmond and the childless Medrick died of Winter Fever four days apart in 132 AC, causing his brother Torrhen to resign from the regency of Aegon III and return to White Harbor.[1]
