Qoren Martell was the ruling Prince of Dorne, the Lord of Sunspear, and the head of House Nymeros Martell during the reign of King Viserys I Targaryen as well as during the Dance of the Dragons.[1]

History

In 110 AC, Prince Qoren Martell joined the War for the Stepstones in support of the Triarchy when they warred against Prince Daemon Targaryen and Lord Corlys Velaryon, leading the Dornishmen in battle over the Stepstones.[1][4] King Viserys I Targaryen considered wedding his daughter Rhaenyra to Prince Qoren, as a way of bringing Dorne into the realm.[4]

During the Dance of the Dragons, both the greens and the blacks courted Dorne's support, but Qoren refused to take part.[1] When Ser Otto Hightower reached out to the Prince of Dorne, Qoren spurned his offer as he refused to partake in a war with dragons, recalling the First Dornish War.[1][5]

Qoren eventually passed away in around 132 AC and was succeeded by his eldest daughter, Princess Aliandra.[1][6]

Quotes

Dorne has danced with dragons before. I would sooner sleep with scorpions.[7]

—in response to a letter from Ser Otto Hightower, asking for support during the Dance of the Dragons

Prince Qoren Martell had three children. His eldest daughter was Princess Aliandra, who succeeded him as Princess of Dorne.[6] He also had two younger children, Princess Coryanne and Prince Qyle.[3]
