History
After the death of King Viserys I Targaryen, Rickard choose the side of King Aegon II Targaryen and the greens in the ensuing civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons.[3]
During the fall of King's Landing, Lord Larys Strong, the master of whisperers, smuggled King Aegon II, Princess Jaehaera, and Prince Maelor Targaryen to safety through a secret passage known only to Larys within Maegor's Holdfast. The party was accompanied by Rickard and Ser Willis Fell of the Kingsguard.[4] Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen offered rewards for information about the vanished "false knights", and King Aegon's rival also sent knights inquisitor in search of Ser Willis and Rickard.[1]
Rickard was commanded to see Prince Maelor safely to Oldtown.[1] At Bitterbridge, however, Rickard was brought down by a mob, and Maelor was torn apart as smallfolk sought to claim him as their own prize.[2]
