Rolly Duckfield known as Duck is a knight in service to Aegon VI.

History

Rolly was born in the Reach, his father was a blacksmith at bitterbridge in service to Lord Caswell. Rolly strength and skill with a blade earned him a place in the castle garrison, but Rolly had dreams of knighthood. He resented seeing Caswells weakling son Lorrent become a paige, a squire then a knight. Lord Caswell had only one son so no one in the castle was allowed say a word against him and in the yard the other squires barely touched him.

On his sixteenth name day, Rolly father made a longsword for Rollys present, but Lorrent Caswells saw it and claimed it for his own saying to Rolly that he was fit to wield a hammer not a sword. This caused Rolly to fetch a hammer and break both Lorrents arms and ribs. Rolly then fled across the Narrow Sea to escape Lord Caswells wroth and joined the Golden company under the command of Harry Stickland where he served as a apprentice smith before becoming a squire.

When "Griff" (Jon Connington) needed someone to train his son "Young Griff" (actually Aegon VI) in skill at arms, Rolly was sent and a year later was knighted by "Griff".

Having no second name he choose the name Duckfield simply because he was in a field with some ducks when he was knighted earning him the nickname "Duck".
