The Crownlands and the location of Rook's Rest

Rook's Rest is the seat of House Staunton in the Crownlands. It is located to the northeast of King's Landing, on the shore opposite Dragonstone.[1]

History

During the Dance of the Dragons, Criston Cole laid siege to Rook's Rest. Lord Staunton watched as his surrounding holdings were destroyed. After nine days a dragon called The Red Queen arrived with Rhaenys Targaryen on her back. Criston, serving as bait, fought the dragon with artillery until Aegon II's dragons showed up. Afterward, Aegon put the garrison to the sword. [2]

Because of the devastation resulting from a dragon fight, the western area of the castle became called the field of shes.
