Samwell Blackwood was the Lord of Raventree Hall and head of House Blackwood at the start of the civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons.[2]
History
Samwell lost a duel to Amos Bracken when Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen visited the Trident in 112 AC, as the rivals unsuccessfully fought for her hand.[5]
During the Dance of the Dragons, Samwell, now a lord, declared for Queen Rhaenyra after the assault on Harrenhal.[6] Lord Blackwood sent raiders to attack the lands of House Bracken, who were supporters of King Aegon II Targaryen and the greens. Samwell was killed by Ser Amos in single combat during the Battle of the Burning Mill, but Amos was then struck down by a weirwood arrow allegedly fired by Samwell's sister, Black Aly.[2] Samwell was succeeded by his eleven-year-old son, Benjicot Blackwood.[4]
