Skagos is an isle situated in the mouth of the Bay of Seals. It is part of the Northern region and lies near Eastwatch-by-the-sea.[1]
The name “Skagos” means “stone” in the Old Tongue, the language of the First Men and of some wildling tribes. The people of Skagos call themselves Skagosi or Stoneborn. The other northern men call them Skaggs.[2] According to semi-canon sources they are nominally under the rule of the Lords of Winterfell, the Skagosi have little contact with the mainland and remain for the most part, independent.[3]

Geography
Skagos is quite rough. There are lots of mountains. The currents around the isle are treacherous and there a rocks that can shatter ships.[4]
History
In ancient times the Skagosi may have been cannibals. They raided the nearby isle Skane and killed its inhabitants. It is also thought the be the home of the last unicorns in Westeros, or perhaps the whole world.
It is not known at what time Skagos became subject to the supremacy of Winterfell but they rebelled one hundred years ago. The rebellion was suppressed at the cost of the lives of the Lord of Winterfell and hundreds of his soldiers.[5]
Houses
The only Skagosi house that appears in the books is House Magnar.[6] In semi-canon sources the following are mentioned: [7]
- House Crowl of Deepdown
- House Magnar of Kingshouse
- House Stane of Driftwood Hall
