Styr, the Magnar of Thenn, is a wildling leader. He is the leader of the Thenn. He allied himself with Mance Rayder when the Others came out of the North. He is a tall lean man with no ears, and is clean shaven and bald, with a straight nose and grey eyes.[1] He rules with an iron fist and commands absolute loyalty from his men.[2]
Recent Events
A Storm of Swords
When Rattleshirt brought Jon Snow to Mance Rayder, Jon mistook Styr for Mance, mistakenly calling him "Your Grace".[1]
As part of Mance Rayder's plan to breach the Wall, Styr, along with his co-commander Jarl and his men, was sent ahead to scale the Wall and take Castle Black by surprise from the rear. After scaling the wall, Jon Snow, who was assigned to Styr's raiding party, betrayed them and warned the watch of the on-coming attack. Styr and his men died in the ensuing attack. Caught in a trap while climbing the wall, he was seen falling as a portion of the Wall collapsed.[2]
A Feast for Crows
His death, which took place during the Battle of Castle Black, is confirmed. His son, Sigorn, became the new Magnar of Thenn.[3]
