Books

Tion Frey was the third son of Emmon Frey and Genna Lannister. He was born around 287 AL[1].

Capture

Tion fought at the Battle of the Whispering Wood and was captured there[2]. He was imprisoned in Riverrun.

Robb Stark and Tyrion Lannister negotiated for his release. Robb offered Tion and his cousin Willem Lannister who was captured together with Tion in exchange for Arya and Sansa Stark. Tyrion declined that offer and offered Lord House Cerwyn and Ser Donnel Locke for Tion and Harrion Karstark and Ser Wylis Manderly for Willem[3].

Murder

In the same battle in which Tion was captured, Jaime Lannister slew two sons of Rickard Karstark who served as bodyguards for Robb Stark[4]. Karstark swore revenge. When Jaime was freed by Catelyn Karstark felt robbed of his revenge and choose Tion Frey and Willem Lannister as targets. With ten men the Karstarks surprised and killed the cousins and their guards. One of them was probably killed in his sleep, the other woke up and tried to defend himself without succes[5].

Their killers were condemned to death and executed by Robb Stark who was outraged by the murders[6].

Appearence

After they have been murdered Catelyn sees the bodies of Tion and Willem. She observed that one was blond wore his hair long and was trying to grow a beard. He was probably killed in his sleep. His cousin was brown-haired and had fought for his life. Booth were pale from their imprisonment[7].
