History
At the start of the Dance of the Dragons in 129 AC, Tristan was among the prominent riverlords that supported Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen and the blacks, despite initial reluctance.[2]
At the Battle of the Red Fork, Tristan and Lord Petyr Piper met the host of Lord Jason Lannister. Despite being out numbered, the rivermen pushed the westermen back thrice and mortally wounded Lord Lannister. On the fourth push, Ser Adrian Tarbeck and a hundred knights swam upstream and circled back to take Tristan's lines from the rear. The rivermen's host shattered and Lord Vance was slain by Ser Adrian.[1]
Tristan was succeeded as the Lord of Wayfarer's Rest by the young Hugo Vance.[3]
