Welcome to A Wiki of Ice and Fire - A Song of Ice and Fire & Game of Thrones! We hope you will contribute much and well. You will probably want to read the help pages. Again, welcome and have fun! Ran (talk) 04:25, 8 July 2015 (CDT)

Military strength of Dorne

I watched the video before making my first edit. And while it is Ran who is making the statement, he specifically states that it is a guess. So stating his guess as a hard fact on the wiki, is simply wrong. A guess is always still that, a guess. It is not canon information, nor is it even semi-canon information. In addition, you removed the book-facts and words of the author for it, as well as delete the other corrections I made to the passage. So I am rolling back those edits.--Rhaenys Targaryen (talk) 10:26, 23 January 2016 (CST)

You have stated that "Elio Garcia states George changed the power of Dorne as he went on. Initially, GRR had Dorne on the same level as the Vale and the North, but that's not the case anymore".. However, he does not state that. The full passage concerning the military strength of Dorne from that video (at the place where there are dots between the brackets, I couldn't make out the words):

Now George said, back in the day, that he kind of basically places the Vale, and Dorne, and the North all together, strength-wise. Now, I find.. so, that was… when he first said that, that was a time when he said that Dorne, we had the figure in A Clash of Kings that Dorne had a strength of 50.000 spears. So now you go "O, does that mean that the North has 50.000, and that Dorne has 50.000 and the Vale has 50.000, give or take?" But at the time that he said it, I believe he had just finished A Storm of Swords and he was starting on A Feast for Crows. Did he already realize that Dorne was in fact not that strong? (…) idea that he always had that he just wasn’t telling us, or when he gave us that figure in a mail, was he thinking "ah, this panel thinks I mean they are all at 50.000", or did he not think about it? I tend to think, given what now The World of Ice and Fire says, and given what I’ve discussed in the earlier video, that the North is about 35.000, give or take, the Vale about the same, and Dorne, is actually less. It is about 25.000 strong, maybe 30.000 if you are being generous.

As you can see, Ran gives us several possibilities regarding that SSM. He doesn't say which of these possibilities is definitly the case, but instead tells us in the video what he believes to be most likely. Which means that, as long as nothing contradicts the SSM, the SSM is allowed as a source on the wiki.--Rhaenys Targaryen (talk) 11:19, 26 January 2016 (CST)

if we're considering multiple possibilities, then why remove my 25 - 30 thousand spears? Nezi0 (talk) 12:57, 26 January 2016 (CST)
