Houses without info

Hi Scafloc!

You're right that we should think about what to do with the minor houses/the hiosues whe know little of. For Jasts or Hetherspoon's we'd even could include info for the minor characters of their house, but for others all we have is a name, and an uncannon heraldry from westeros.org.

I'd say the best thing would be your second suggestion. Create pages such as "Houses from the Stormlands, and include there all the minor houses with the few bits of info we may have. Not much sure how those pages should be structured exactly. --The hairy bear (Send me a raven) 05:31, 28 June 2007 (CDT)

Wiki

Is it completly dead and abandoned? You seem to be the last one to regularly contribute, that's why I'm asking here. Stalker 04:20, 21 February 2009 (CST)

Husband as a parameter in Template:Character

Ok thanks for the info!

Rhaena

Thanks, I only noticed after I had saved the page that I had not checked that I had the full name in the link. I was wondering how I was going to solve the Rhaena/Rhaena Targaryen problem.

The Pale Griffin

Sorry about the banners, help needed

I got the images from the RPG book that I purchased some days ago.

I'm not sure what are the copyrights for those pictures and to be honest, I didn't even know they had them for such images.

Anyway, I don't really know how to add the copyrights or anything or how to check them, could you help me out on this? I would gladly do it, but I lack the knowledge (and skills).

By the way, I was going to add a detailed map of Westeros, also gotten from the RPG book, but now I'm not sure if I can and I don't really even know how to since I am a wiki-newbie.

Cheers!

COA

Category:Houses without COA

Sorry, I didnt understand the query thing. what I did is change the Image field for the Template:Noble_House to:

{{#if:{}|{image}|}}

It checks if image was assigned, if so it shows it otherwise it auto adds it to the Category:Houses without COA. Mor 08:28, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

I think I get it now. Do you want to add to that list only houses that has no Image AND have coat of arms description? if so it's an easy fix. Mor 08:49, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Updating COA

I tried to update the Kingsguard COA, with a simple gradient to make it less blend, but for some reason it doesnt work. the file was uploaded successfully it's the correct size but it doesnt show as it [should], I thought that it might be some kind of cache thing, so I waited but it still show nothing, any idea why not? Mor 17:13, 8 October 2011 (UTC)

well I recently uploaded another file but I still have the same issue, clearing cache diffident browsers and few other tricks didnt solve it... so if you happened to have a chance to update an image, specifically by selecting it and then clicking upload a new version of it, please drop me a message. I want to make sure it's not some kind of server side upload issue before I schedule a format of my laptop, thanks --Mor 00:29, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Wiki

Hey Scafloc! Thanks for the message. I see that you seem to be one of the main guys here. I've just finished compiling all of the Martin sources concerning Languages I could (in one read through) from the books on another wiki, at http://wiki.dothraki.org Perhaps you could look through it, or we could replicate the pages I made here? Particularly Other Languages and Corpus...

RE: Selyse Florent

You're totally right... obviously I was not well enough caffeinated when I changed that. Thanks for catching it! -Managerpants 12:25, 23 May 2011 (CDT)

New Main Page

Great new main page! It's a nice approach. Two suggestions: it may just be me, but the top section seems to have much too large a font, with the main category links spilling off to the right of the page. Also, some more reference to the TV series by name would be good, just to help search engines find us, as we provide relevant content. Unless the idea is to go this way as we set up a specific portal for the show, of course. Thanks for your hard work! --Ran 12:46, 2 July 2011 (CDT)

Okay, I think I fixed the size issue, and also worked in a more explicit reference to the show on the project section. But just an attempt at it, please feel free to adjust it further in whatever way you think best! --Ran12:57, 2 July 2011 (CDT)

Punks

Thanks Scafloc. I just dread when that guy gets access. I can only imagine his "better than you" attitude and if we don't like what he has to offer, we "don't get it". The Pale Griffin 18:49, 16 August 2011 (CDT)

Hi

Just dropped by to say thank for the welcome. Btw, I didnt know it's possible to link to templates from wikipida(like you did with the userbars) and that Feature quote is awesome, if there is no template for it yet, there will be ;) Mor 06:23, 18 August 2011 (CDT)

Hi Scafloc (Arek here) Apologies for images. I know you cannot add images unless the artist has given consent. Im not sure how to send message back to you so hope this reaches you. Im a big fan of the series and enjoy contributing to the Wiki. The House Targaryen & BLackfyre Sigils were based on TV series but were modified by me Photoshop. Ive uploaded some personal artwork I drew on two characters (Mors Umber & Moqorro). Is it ok to do that with characters that have no artwork done?

Im planning on drawing/designing Arnolf Karstark & Ser Robert Strong later on when I have the free time. Anyway if you let me know Id appreciate it. Once again Apologies for Targaryen symbol (I do not want to get into an editing war :-) )

CSS

I like your idea of working with custom css, here is few thought I had going over it:

 • Topbar transparency, If still want it, I think you should check mw-page-base and mw-head-base on top of mw-head.
 • Backround Image, I like the idea of the map. I think that it will look better if we make it little smaller, blurred and place it bellow the navigation links (or change nav links color, because it's kind of hard to read it blue on blue).
 • Hiding the logo, I dont like the logo as well, but I like the Idea of a logo or nice background image for the topbar. we have so many amazing artist around maybe we can ask if someone can make something?
 • Fonts, I love hand written fonts but I think they fit better on art pieces or at best you should limit it to h1 h2 h3 titles because the rest look funny in the articles.

Also, how do you feel about changing the over all white background and font color to something darker, lets say: background:#F9F7F1; color:#414141;
and maybe hiding the caption on the main page as well body.page-Main_Page h1.firstHeading { display:none; }

spoilers

Damn, those spoilers sections looks bad, not the way I thought they would :/

 • What if we add a width 100% to avoid the dance of the spoilers? something like that:

A Game of Thrones

 • maybe we can combine the header with the warning, something like that:
 • And try for a more minimalistic approach:
 • it's probably will not work well with other elements and still doesnt look that well, but this the best I can think of right now, here is a quick template that will utilize the above:
style="border:0px; solid;background:none;"|<div style="float:left">
{}
</div> <div style="float:right">Spoiler warning  </div>
style="border:0px;background:none;"|{}
 • which would be used like that:

Replay - Maybe we should start by creating a new template , so we can discuss it there(so I dont have to spam your talk page with the above crap ;) ) and see how it goes. Mor 10:06, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

I Have removed the spoiler tags from the Jaime Lannister entry, until we finalize it I dont think we should be experimenting on our featured article. Mor 05:58, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

Page/chapter table

Your Page/chapter table at the sandbox looks pretty decent to me, any ideas where and how we can include it in the wiki?

--Mor 00:32, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
Hi, Scafloc. On that note, you will notice that I have included some information there, including Kindle positions. It seems to me that for that table purposes "paperbacks" are in fact mass market paperbacks, since so far all the regular-sized paperbacks that I have found follow the same numbering as the hardcovers. Do you know if that is correct? Also, I have a wish to include some specific information for the two halves of ASOS that exist in the UK paperbacks. I would probably have included some if I had any. You're more experienced and better at this than me, so I want your counsel, if it pleases you. I'm of half a mind to put the specific ISBN information and the like in the articles of the books themselves. I probably will when I feel like it. LuisDantas 16:08, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

thanks for the welcome and all other stuff and for help in creating greyjoys rebellion page (actually you created it i only gave an idea). sorry 4 my horrible english

Welcome Template

Nice spot on the Welcome template, iirc I was trying to place a default action in-case someone forget to place the variable. unfortunately I found no magic word to do it and for some reason(that at the moment escapes me) used the code:Mor which had no reason to do anything other than that :/ anyway if you stumble on way to use the Mor in template to auto sign, it would be great, cheers --Mor 23:52, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Wellcome

Thanks! Looking forward to it. I'm in awe of the GRRM's accomplishment. Definitely need a wiki to ven understand what's going on. Ronnotel 02:30, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Games

Hi again Scafolc, i was thinking maybe we should make pages about A Game of Thrones Genesis and meanwhile when RPG comes out do the same with it. Think about it :)

Yours fathifull, --Stormlander 18:21, 16 January 2012 (UTC)Stormlander

Chapter summaries

Regarding your recent addition to the Chapter summaries, to the external links sections. Since we are using those Chapter summaries for reference in our articles and in turn use them to link back to various entries, it is my preference that we use as little Eternal links as possible and improve our own Chapter summaries instead, but obviously they still need a lot of work and you and other may want those additional reference and considering that there are so many summaries out there and everyone may want to add his own, lets try to keep them under 2-3 ? --Mor 16:06, 20 January 2012 (UTC)

Maps

I just noticed your map for the Battle of the Shield Islands. I think that your animated gif solution is great for what otherwise maybe a very confusing map. I am not familiar with animated gif's, so I just wanted to know if there are any limits or problems that you encountered with it? --Mor 11:58, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

I looked on the web if there was a gifmaker and found one: http://gifmake.com/. You upload the different pictures and the gifmaker-software creates 1 gif file from it which you can download. As for limitations: I noticed that the wiki software is not able to handle large gifs. If you try the software seems to treat it as a regular file; you cannot see any animation. Interwiki

There were few errors/spelling mistakes in the list you used (on the left is the list value, on the right our):

 • Jeffery Norcross -> Jeffory Norcross
 • Obera Sand -> Obara Sand
 • Mern IX Gardener -> Mern Gardener
 • Loren I Lannister -> Loren Lannister
 • Smalljon Umber -> Jon Umber (Smalljon)

Some entries blanked the pages, I fixed them and added the correct link manualy in all but the last one.

 • Loras Tyrell
 • Joffrey Baratheon
 • Roland Crakehall (Lord).

Also, I think we would benift from doing those changes with a bot or at least with user with Bot privilege, which would hide that recent changes "spam" under the hood(unless "Show bots" is checked). I had to manually edit the url to be able to see the edit done be editors prior to this change. --Mor 14:31, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

I belive your script screws up articles containing the <br> tag, removing ever reference of it. --Mor 21:19, 23 March 2012 (UTC)Testtext
