Ser Vardis Egen is the captain of the household guard at the Eyrie. During Jon Arryn's stay in King's Landing as Hand of the King, he had served as his captain of the guards. In the TV series he is played by Brendan McCormack.[1]

Ser Vardis greets Catelyn Tully upon her arrival at the Eyrie.[2] Ser Vardis is present when Tyrion Lannister demands a trial by battle to demonstrate his innocence in the death of Jon Arryn. Ser Vardis is chosen as the champion for House Arryn. He comes to the trial dressed in his mail, however it made him slow and clumsy and Bronn, Tyrion's champion, kills him easily.

He is stocky and silver-haired.[3] He had a square, plain face. He is heavy, with no humor whatsoever.[4]
