Ser Willem Darry was a knight who stayed loyal to House Targaryen during Robert's Rebellion. He took Viserys and Daenerys Targaryen to safety after their father`s death in King's Landing. According to semi-canon sources he is known to have one brother, Ser Jonothor Darry of the Kingsguard.[1]

History

When Prince Rhaegar Targaryen learned that he must be a knight, he went to Ser Willem, who was master-at-arms at the Red Keep to learn.[2] After Rhaella Targaryen`s death during labor and the death of Aerys II in King's Landing, the castellan of Dragonstone was considering surrendering the two Targaryen children to the rebels. However, before the castellan could come to a decision, Ser Willem Darry and four men grabbed Viserys and Daenerys and fled to safety in Braavos.[3]

While in Braavos, Ser Willem was visited by Oberyn Martell and together with the Sealord of Braavos as witness they signed a pact, promising Viserys Targaryen wed Arianne Martell in return for the support of Dorne in winning him the Iron Throne.

However, Ser Willem took sick and died, leaving the two children to their own devices.[4]

Appearance

He was a grey bear of a man who was half-blind.[3]
