Ronnel, [[King of Mountain and Vale]], was only a boy when [[Aegon I Targaryen|Aegon Targaryen]], [[Lord of Dragonstone]], made his intentions of conquest known to the rulers of the seven independent kingdoms of [[Westeros]]. After [[Aegon's coronations|Aegon's coronation]] at the [[Aegonfort]], [[Sharra Arryn]], Ronnel's mother and [[regent]], offer to ally with Aegon against [[Harren Hoare]], [[King of the Isles and the Rivers]], in return for lands east of the [[Green Fork]]. Aegon refused, however, and continued [[Aegon's Conquest|the Conquest]].{{ref|FAB|Aegon's Conquest}}

The Vale scored a victory against the invaders in a [[battle in the waters off Gulltown]], but the Arryn fleet was burned by [[Visenya Targaryen]]. As other regions of Westeros fell to Aegon, Sharra amassed the Vale's army at the [[Bloody Gate]]. Aegon sent Visenya to the Eyrie atop her dragon, [[Vhagar]]. When the queen regent returned to the Eyrie, Sharra found her son sitting on Visenya's lap asking if he could ride the dragon with Visenya. Upon the death of Aegon the Conqueror, however, and the ascension of his son [[Aenys I Targaryen|Aenys]] to the [[Iron Throne]], rebellions broke out in [[Westeros]], including the Vale. [[Allard Royce]], [[Lord of Runestone]], led an army which swept away the rebels, penning Jonos at the Eyrie. Rather than surrendering, however, Jonos executed Ronnel by flinging him through the [[Moon Door]], making Jonos a [[kinslaying|kinslayer]].{{ref|FAB|The Sons of the Dragon}}{{Ref|TWOIAF|The Targaryen Kings: Aenys I}}

Jonos and his men remained defiant until Prince [[Maegor I Targaryen|Maegor Targaryen]] flew to the Eyrie upon [[Balerion]] to crush the rebellion. Jonos's followers, knowing they could not defeat the [[dragon]], turned on their leader. Jonos shared the same fate he had shown to his brother Ronnel and was flung through the Moon Door. His men hoped that by surrendering, Maegor would show them mercy. The prince's mercy, however, was having all of them hanged instead of being burned alive. Even the highborn died by the noose as Maegor denied them the honor of beheading.{{ref|FAB|The Sons of the Dragon}}
