Lord Shawney almost died from his wounds in the battle, and he was pardoned by King [[Daeron II Targaryen]] after the war.{{Ref|TMK}}

In {{Date|212}}, Lord Shawney came with his retinue to [[Whitewalls]] to attend the [[wedding]] of Lord [[Ambrose Butterwell]] and his second wife, [[Lady Butterwell|the daughter]] of [[Lord Frey]]. On his way, Lord Shawney had to cross the [[Gods Eye]] via a ferry. He quarreled with [[Lord Costayne (Aerys I)|Lord Costayne]] on the matter of which lord should cross first; Shawney argued that as the older of the two he should go first, whereas Costayne believed that as his House was nobler then Shawney's, he had the precedence.{{Ref|TMK}}

During the wedding feast, Lord Shawney was seated on the dais. The next day, he attend the [[Wedding tourney at Whitewalls|wedding tourney]] and bet on Ser [[Duncan the Tall]] to win (five to one) against Ser [[Uthor Underleaf]] in the joust.{{Ref|TMK}}

The fate of Lord Costayne following the arrival at Whitewalls of the [[Hand of the King]], [[Brynden Rivers]], and the suppression of the [[Second Blackfyre Rebellion]] is unknown.
