The new High Septon attempted to disband the Stars and Swords, but made little effort to reduce the constant violence. :Not sure, but it seems logical. Aren't dotted lines supposed to show outer marital activities? For example, the line between Daena Taryargen and Baelor I Targaryen should be a solid one, since they were legally married, but the line between Daena and Aegon IV should be dotted, since they were not married? The line going down to Daemon Blackfyre would be dotted then as well, since he's a bastard, born out of wedlock. I checked Wikipedia, which uses family trees inconsistently. For instance [[w:House of Normandy|House of Normandy]], [[w:House of Windsor|House of Windsor]], and the [[w:Richard Neville, 16th Earl of Warwick#Neville family tree|Nevilles]] use dashes for marriages. [[w:House of Orange-Nassau#Family Tree|House of Orange-Nassau]] does as well, and includes vertical dashes and "illeg." for illegitimate children. The [[w:Template:William Shakespeare family tree|Shakespeare family tree]] use solid lines for marriages. The tree for [[w:Mary, Queen of Scots#Family tree|Mary, Queen of Scots]] also uses solid lines and only uses dashes to help with spacing.

The Sand Snakes are the most prominent example for the different backgrounds a bastard in Dorne may have, and they are all respected by the nobility and the commoners I think. Obara was born by a whore, Nymeria and Sarella born by outsiders (volantese noblewoman and a Summerlander) and Tyene by a Septa! ::Yes, maybe you are right. The point is, besides the Sand Snakes we have only two other "Sands" in the story, Ellaria Sand and Daemon Sand! And in both cases it seems that they are beloved and in high status. The point is, it's implied that dornish bastards have in general better circumstances than in the other parts of Westeros. This makes me believe that someone like Gulian Qorgyle could father a bastard with a camp follower, for example, and he or she wouldn't treated different like a child born in a marriage! Dorne is a very big contrast to the other parts of Westeros and dornish nobles like Oberyn Martell, Harmen Uller and Ryon Allyrion seem to love their bastardchildren, and no one in Dorne look down to them. Maegor mounted Balerion and burned the Sept of Remembrance, while archers killed all those who attempted to flee. Although the Faith would remain Maegor's chief enemy for the duration of his reign, he faced further oppression from Aenys's heir Aegon. Two of Maegor's [[Kingsguard]] also abandoned him. These series of betrayals and the loss of Visenya's guidance left Maegor a broken man. He was found dead seated on the Iron Throne the next morning, his robes covered in blood, his wrists slashed. In the first year of the reign of his half-brother, several rebellions broke out. One of these rebellions took place in [[the Vale]]. Ravens flew, declaring a new King had been crowned and that those who defied him would suffer a traitors death. Chief among Maegor's foe were the [[Faith of the Seven|Faith Militant]]. Maegor mounted [[Balerion]] and set for [[King's Landing]], to crush the uprising. Landing on Visenya's hill he planted his standard, rallying his supporters to him. Visenya challenged those who questioned her sons right to rule to prove themselves. This challenge was accepted by the Captain of the [[Warrior's Sons]]. Ser [[Damon Morrigen]] challenged Maegor to a [[Trial of seven]], which Maegor accepted. Ser Damon and six Warrior Sons fought against the King and his six champions. In the end, only King Maegor was left alive. The other thirteen participants were dead. Maegor took a blow to the head, however, and collapsed just as the last Warrior's Son died. He went into a coma, which lasted a month. Tyanna took over Maegor's care, and on the thirtieth day of his coma, he awoke. He mounted [[Balerion]] and without a warning flew over the [[Sept of Remembrance]] on [[Rhaenys's Hill]], where he unleashed the Black Dread's flames, which consumed the Sept and all within in dragon flame. Those who tried to flee were slain by archers Maegor had placed around the hill. The screams of burning and dying men were said to echo in the streets of King's Landing and for it was claimed for seven days a pall hung over the city. The Faith wasn't the only opposition Maegor faced during his reign. Aenys' eldest son, Prince [[Aegon Targaryen (son of Aenys I)|Aegon]], launched a rebellion against Maegor, to try and win back the throne that by law should have been his. This ended in the [[Battle Beneath the Gods Eye]] in {{date|43}}, when Maegor, mounted on [[Balerion]], [[Kinslaying|killed]] Aegon, along with Aegon's dragon, [[Quicksilver]].{{Ref|TWOIAF| The Targaryen Kings: Maegor I}}

Maegor's reign wasn't only filled with death and violence. Maegor's father had ordered the construction of the [[Red Keep]], and Maegor continued it. Lacking any heirs, Maegor had thrown himself on the project, personally overseeing everything. While he left the day to day task of running the kingdom to his [[Hand of the King]] and goodfather, Lord [[Lucas Harroway]], while he himself had a host of tunnels and secret passageways hidden under the castle build. Upon the completion of the Red Keep Maegor threw a huge riotous feast for the builders, masons, craftsmen and all those who took part in the construction. After the completion of the Red Keep, Maegor planned to have the ruins of the Sept of Remembrance cleared away from [[Rhaenys's Hill]], and decreed that a large [[Dragonpit]] would be built on the hill for [[House Targaryen]] to stable its royal [[dragons]]. After all that had happened to the builders of the Red Keep, it should be unsurprising that Maegor had trouble finding new builders and masons to undertake the construction. After Maegor wiped out [[House Harroway]] in {{date|44}} he decreed that only the strongest of his knights would have the castle of [[Harrenhal]], though not all the lands. Twenty three knights fought in the blood-soaked streets of [[Lord Harroway's Town]] for the prize. The chaos that her death left gave Dowager Queen [[Alyssa Velaryon]] an opportunity to escape with her two youngest children, [[Jaehaerys I Targaryen|Jaehaerys]] and [[Alysanne Targaryen|Alysanne]], from [[Dragonstone]]. She took the Valyrian sword [[Dark Sister]] with her and fled. When [[Rhaena Targaryen (daughter of Aenys I)|Rhaena Targaryen]] learned of her brother's claim she managed to escape her forced marriage to Maegor. Stealing away in the night while her husband slept, she mounted on her dragon [[Dreamfyre]] and managed to smuggle the blade [[Blackfyre]] with her. Two of Maegors [[Kingsguard]] also abandoned him. These series of betrayals and the loss of his [[Visenya Targaryen|mothers]] guidance left Maegor a broken man. During the hour of the wolf, those few who remained left the throne room leaving Maegor alone to brood. He was found dead seated on the [[Iron Throne]] the next morning, his robes covered in blood, his wrists slashed. Some say he had been killed by a knight of his own [[Kingsguard]] who could no longer abide his tyranny, some say he had been killed by a builder that escaped the slaughter and desired revenge, and some whispered that Maegor had been killed by the throne itself.{{Ref|aSoS|36}} Perhaps the most likely explaination however is that Maegor killed himself by opening his wrists on the blades of the Iron Throne. Visenya accompanied the [[House Targaryen|Targaryen]] fleet to [[Gulltown]] on her dragon. After the [[House Arryn|Arryn]] fleet defeated Aegon's [[royal fleet]] in a [[battle in the waters off Gulltown]], she had [[Vhagar]] burn the Arryn ships.

After the death of [[Harren Hoare|Harren the Black]] in the [[burning of Harrenhal]], Visenya was sent by Aegon I to demand the submission of the lords of [[Crackclaw Point]]. The lords understood that they had no chance, so they laid their swords at her feet. Visenya took them as her own men and they would owe no fealty but to the [[Iron Throne]].{{ref|AFFC|20}}

She along with her siblings Rhaenys and Aegon secured the victory on the [[Field of Fire]] when all three [[dragons]] were unleashed together for the first and only time in the war. She was the only one of the three siblings to sustain an injury, taking an arrow to the shoulder.

After the Field of Fire she was charged with subduing the Vale while Rhaenys was charged with conquering [[Dorne]]. House Arryn sent an army to the [[Bloody Gate]] but Visenya simply flew on Vhagar to the courtyard of the [[Eyrie]] to obtain the surrender of the [[Vale of Arryn]]. Their dragons consumed the abandoned Dornish castles in [[dragonflame]] and placed bounties on the heads of Dornish lords, and in turn the [[Dornishmen]] put bounties on the price of the Targaryens. Aegon and Visenya were assaulted on the streets of [[King's Landing]], and if not for Visenya's [[Dark Sister]] they would have been killed. The Dornish war ended with peace terms due to a mysterious letter given to Aegon by the Dornish.

Ser Eustace calls up the meagre amount of peasants at his disposal to begin training for war. However the truth about his choice of sides during the Blackfyre Rebellion comes out and Ser Duncan threatens to leave. However, a change of heart by Ser Duncan leads him to send the peasants home and with Ser Eustace and [[Aegon V Targaryen|Egg]], confront the forces of [[House Webber]] alone. They meet Lady [[Rohanne Webber]] at the Chequy Water, where she will not settle for Ser Duncan's slashed face as payment. A trial by battle is agreed upon and Ser Duncan prevails. After the battle, Ser Eustace and Lady Rohanne reconciled and are married shortly thereafter. Ser Eustace becomes Lord of Coldmoat.{{ref|tss}}
