When he was crippled and done with adventuring, he took over the old [[inn at the crossroads]] between the [[Kingsroad]], the [[river road]], and the [[high road]]. Jon took to ironworking as well, creating a sign for his inn in the shape of a three-headed dragon. The iron sign would clank in the wind and gave the inn its new name, the Clanking Dragon.{{ref|aFfC|37}}

Many years later in {{Date|196}}, when Long Jon's son was an old man, the [[First Blackfyre Rebellion]] broke out. Lord [[House Darry|Darry]], then overlord of the inn's lands, was a famous [[House Targaryen|Targaryen]] supporter. When she died, Lady Jeyne named Ser Joffrey as her heir in her last testament, although Ser [[Arnold Arryn]] was more closely related to her. However, tensions brewed on Jeyne's death between those who supported Jeyne's chosen successor and those who supported Ser Arnold. One of the young king [[Aegon III Targaryen]]'s [[Regency of Aegon III|regents]], Ser [[Corwyn Corbray]], ruled that Lady Jeyne's will must prevail and declared Ser Joffrey the rightful Lord of the Eyrie. Isembard Arryn and his sons were imprisoned, and Ser Eldric was executed, but Ser Arnold eluded the knight and fled to [[Runestone]], where Ser Corwyn was struck down by a crossbowman once he drew [[Lady Forlorn]].{{Ref|FAB|The Lysene Spring and the End of Regency}}

Striking down the king's regent was an act of treason, and [[Arryn Succession Conflict (134 AC)|war]] began anew across the [[Vale of Arryn]]. Eustace considered him an expert forager, and Dake was able enough to provide for the whole group as they marched. He was one of only four men who came back, the others being Eustace Osgrey, [[Pate (Standfast)|Pate]] and [[Lem (Standfast)|Lem]].{{Ref|TSS}}

Years later, he was accused of stealing sheep by members of [[House Webber]], whose lands bordered House Osgrey's. Lady [[Rohanne Webber]] sent her [[knight]]s across the [[Chequy Water]] to seize Dake and bring him to [[Coldmoat]] for punishment. He claimed that Myrielle's personality, her age, and her mother's fertility made her the perfect candidate in [[marriage]] to Aegon. When Aegon expressed doubt about liking Myrielle, Lord Peake likened a potential marriage to the king having to eat turnips when his cooks prepared them. Many [[lord]]s disapproved of Peake trying to forward the match so soon after the suspicious death of Queen Jaehaera. Lord [[Cregan Stark]] suggested the [[north]] would look on the match with disfavor, Lord [[Kermit Tully]] called it presumptuous, and [[Grand Maester]] [[Munkun]]'s support began to waver, acknowledging that the match would be seen as advancing [[House Peake]]'s interests rather than being for the good of the realm. Myrielle arrived a fortnight before the ball, and Unwin made sure that his daughter spent as much time as possible with the king. Half a dozen dinners together were held, and it seemed like the king was fonder of Myrielle than he ever was of Jaehaera. Three days before the ball, he gave her one of Jaehaera's dolls. Myrielle took this as a token of affection when she was presented at the Maiden's Day ball, cradling the doll in her arms like a babe.
