The duel was said to be a sight to see. The sun was setting as the two dragons took to the sky. The dragons shrieks and roars could be heard from a dozen miles away. The Dance over Harrenhal was an aerial duel that took place in the skies above Harrenhal and the God's Eye between two of the most powerful dragons and their riders during the civil war during the Dance of the Dragons.

Prelude

Daemon challenged Aemond, waiting for 13 days at Harrenhal until Aemond stopped burning the Riverlands to come face him.

Aemond arrived on the 14th day. His pregnant lover Alys Rivers accompanied him. Both men talked briefly before mounting his dragon. Aemond kissing Alys passionately goodbye.

Battle

The duel was said to be a sight to see. The sun was setting as the two dragons took to the sky. The dragons shrieks and roars could be heard from a dozen miles away. So bright were the dragons flames that smallfolk feared the sky was a flame. Ceraxes slammed into Vhagar locking his jaws on Vhagars neck. Both dragon grappling as they descended from the sky. Ceraxes jaw continued to tighten around Vhagar's necks even as Vhagars teeth tore Ceraxes wing and Vhagar's claws opened Ceraxes belly. It was then as tales tell that Prince Daemon leapt from his saddle the blade Dark Sister in hand driving the blade through his nephews empty eye socket just as both dragons collided with the lake below sending up a gout of water so high it was as tall as the Kingspyre tower at Harrenhal. Neither man could have survived.

Aftermath

The loss of both Aemond and Daemon and their powerful dragons was a severe blow to both sides. Each side having lost a capable warrior and commander, in addition both sides lost a powerful dragon.

Vhagar corpse was washed up and found years later, prince Aemonds armoured corpse still chained to her saddle with Dark sister still through his eye. Vhagar's skull was brought to King's Landing, displayed on the walls of the throne room. Dark Sister was restored to House Targaryen.

Some tales claim Daemon survived and later went to find his lover Nettles but many historians dismiss this as a tale only fit for fools.
